June 4, 1895 Eunice officially became a town, and just 8 short years later, A. B. Picou, Eunice's first registered pharmacist, opened Picou's Drug Store in 1903. A. B. was a graduate of the New Orleans College of Pharmacy. Picou's is originally thought to have been first located in the current City Auto Supply building, but soon after in 1907 it moved into the A. B. Picou buidling on South Second Street.
Around 1920 A. B. moved to New Orleans and sold Picou's to his younger brother, A. R. Picou, Sr. A. R. attended Pharmacy school in Little Rock, Arkansas then transferred and graduated in New Orleans.

A. R. Picou's sons, Eugene "Coonie" and A. R. "Bubba" both grew up in their father's drug store. They made deliveries and worked in the soda fountain until leaving for college. "Coonie" graduated from Loyola Univeristy and "Bubba" from the School of Pharmacy of the University of Houston. Both came back to Eunice to work at Picou's in 1949.

One of the first radios in Eunice was at Picou's. Large crowds would gather around the soda fountain to listen to the fights. Delivery service was another first for the Picou's. The first deliveries were made by bicycles.

Picou's moved into it's current location on North 2nd street in May of 1965. The previous four locations are believed to be:

In 1978, Robert "Robby" Chachere graduated from Northeast Louisiana University. He began working at Picou's around 1976, before he graduated pharmacy school. In January of 1981 Robby purchased part of Picou's and became co-owner with "Coonie" Picou. In January of 2001 Robby became the sole owner of Picou's Drug Store.

Jed and Cindy Reviere, along with Jason and Christina Brown purchased Picou's along with all its history on November 1, 2023. Christina graduated from Eunice high School in 2004 and in 2011 from the University of Louisiana Monroe with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. Jed graduated from St. Edmund in 1979. He previously owned the longstanding Jerry's Furniture in Eunice and is an upstanding leader in our community. Christina and Jed hope to continue the values that Picou's is known for which are trustworthiness, honesty and compassion.

Christina is the 6th Pharmacist to own Picou's, behind A. B., A. R., "Coonie", "Bubba", and "Robby". She is passionate about her profession and making sure she forms a relationship built on trust with each patient. Jason and Christina are proud to be raising their four children in the same community they were born and raised in and Christina is thankful to be able to be a part of the healthcare of her hometown. It is an honor and a privilege to continue the legacy of Eunice's oldest continuously open business and first drug store.
